Honey-Bourbon Marinade and Glaze

pinit

I developed this recipe as part of my exploration into foods from the Bible. Honey appears in the Bible more than 60 times and represents prosperity, as in the Promised Land “flowing with milk and honey,” immortality, as honey is touted to have an unlimited shelf life, and delight in God’s word and wisdom.

Honey is full of beneficial polyphenols that contain anti-inflammatories and antioxidants and may help fight cancers and heart disease.

This glaze is great on salmon and pork chops and can be used for a marinade when grilling or a glaze when searing.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients together in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil and then lower temperature to a simmer for about five minutes, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and let cool.

  1. Try with salmon by brushing salmon filets with about a tsp per filet. Place in a 425* oven for about 3 minutes, turn the filets and apply about a tsp per filet on the other side. Return filets to the oven for another 3 minutes. Time will depend on thickness of your salmon filet.

  1. Try this glaze with a seared pork chop: sear as per your usual method and then apply the glaze directly to the chop or use as a dipping sauce.
