Update on the Blacklock Skillet by Lodge

Hello! Welcome back!

Today, I have a quick update on the Blacklock skillet by Lodge. I did a review of it several weeks ago, and since then, I haven’t used it very much, which is a mistake because I gotta tell you–this is a hidden gem of a skillet!

This morning, I was on my own because Mr. Stone Soup was at the annual men’s fishing trip. I decided to do a little refrigerator-dive frittata. I had some leftover oven-fried potatoes, a piece of zucchini and a piece of leftover red bell pepper. I chopped it all up and sautéed the lot in my little 7″ Blacklock pan. I whisked up three eggs, added a little whole milk, some salt and pepper and then poured the mixture into the pan with the vegetables. I popped the pan into a 450* oven for about 7 minutes, and viola!

Breakfast is served!

The frittata was delicious, but in addition to that, the pan performed like a champ. The frittata was golden brown on the bottom, and slid right out of the pan:

No sticking:

And, honestly–I think I might have used this pan once in the last month. It has taken seasoning like a champ, performs just great, and at $40 bucks, is a steal.

One drawback: the handle on this little pan gets BRANDING IRON HOT. In fact, it gets so hot that the branded Lodge handle mitt started smoking when I was making this omelette–I smelled it and took it off the handle before it caused any issues, but this is something that needs to be monitored.

Overall, though–this little pan is a winner 🙂

Peace, love and good food,

Keri
