Old-School Margaritas

Oh boy are these good margaritas. I tend to be a purist--over ice, salt on the rim, fresh-squeezed lime juice, blanco tequila, Cointreau, a hot day, street tacos, rice, beans. Mic drop.

Ingredients
  • 1 part freshly-squeezed lime juice
  • 1 part blanco tequila
  • 1/2 part Cointreau (or more to your liking--I like my margaritas on the austere side, so this proportion works for me)
  • salt (for the rim--optional, but tell me if you don't)
  • ice (serve on the rocks)
Instructions
  1. 1
Add lime juice, tequila and Cointreau to a carafe or measuring cup (for convenience), stir well to mix.
  2. 2
Pour a little salt onto a plate. Dip the rim of a chilled glass in the margarita mixture, and then dip the wet rim in salt. Fill glass with ice and pour margarita over ice. Serve immediately.
